Tank Stops - Dragon Teeth

Photo of Completed Tankstops - Click to EnlargeTank Stops are a simple and effective terrain piece, which can add detail to a tabletop and also be of great use to armies, as they will halt the progress of large ground vehicles.

The process of making the tank stops is quite easy, simply print out the PDF template onto some sturdy card, cut them out and glue together to get the basic shape of the tank stop.

With the above done, I would glue the tank stop shapes onto a hardboard base and when the glue was dry, I textured the tank stops using some textured paint (you could also use ready made wall-filler if you don't have textured paint).

When the textured paint had dried, it time to add some interest to the base, I decided to keep mine simple and just add some rubble to the base, so I painted PVA glue onto the areas that I wanted the rubble to be and sprinkled some sprue rubble and small stones on the glue and left it to dry.

Once the glue was dry, it was time to paint the piece; I paint the tank stops and rubble dark grey and just drybrushed on lighter shade of grey until I was happy with the result. Once done I then added some shades of black and brown to the tank stops to show wear and tear.

When the painting was finished it was time to add some flock to the base, I just painted PVA glue onto the particular areas I wanted flocked, added the flock on top of the glue. When the glue was dry simply remove any excess flock and the piece is completed.

As mentioned in the article, I have drawn up some plans used to construct tank stops, just click on the link below download the PDF file and print them.
